Medusaphone H x W x D" telephone parts, b&w photographs, aluminum, 1997 The phone is insistant. It rings; you drop everything to go answer it. It could be a wrong number, a crank caller, a sales person, a friend or a family member. The phone symbolizes dialogue and communication, but not face to face, and often impersonal. Medusaphone portrays the telephone as a kind of monster or hydra, with many arms, reaching out to "get" the viewer. It is a wall-piece, the base of the phone is mounted directly to the wall. next |
